Well, my plans to keep up with my fitness program fell by the wayside while I was in Minnesota. I thought I had covered my bases by contacting the lodge in advance to inquire about workout facilities. I was told there was a small weight room at the lodge, and that a fitness center was opening in Ely on September 1. In reality, the "weight room" consisted of two rusty exercycles and the new fitness center was nonexistent!
I was able to keep up with the aerobics part of the program, and stick fairly closely to my food plan. I must admit to indulging in some chocolate, which was literally lying all over the retreat center at the lodge.
On Sunday, my food free day, I snuck off for pancakes and bacon in town. That evening we were supposed to go out to dinner, but the group decided to stay in and make soup and bread. Well, I can eat soup and bread at home! I headed down to the restaurant and enjoyed fettucine alfredo!
As soon as I got back, I developed a terrible cold. So even though I was home, I missed a weight day at the gym because I was so miserable. So vacation turned out to be a setback for me. At least it could have been a lot worse, and I am proud of myself for sticking to my food plan and getting in the aerobic activity.
