I am getting impatient for fat loss. Definitely seeing muscle development. Just need to be more patient. I have stuck very strictly to the nutrition and training plan, so I will get the results! Whenever I am tempted to do it "my way", I remember the analogy about baking a cake. If I follow the recipe for a cake you made that I liked, I will get the same cake. If I improvise on your recipe, I will get something different!
Had a lovely ending to week 3 -- the love of my life gave me a diamond ring! We plan to be married in the spring. We are both doing the body-for-life program, so we will look fantastic in our wedding pictures! Seriously, it was a romantic and wonderful evening, and the glow has carried me through the week. Good things happen when we are being good to ourselves.
I upped my lower body weights this week. I am seeing good results there. My quadricep muscles (upper legs) are shaping up and getting solid very quickly. So are my calf muscles, and I started at a disadvantage there. I had foot surgery May 25, and was on crutches for 4 weeks. My left calf atrophied and hung off the bone. It was gross! I had gotten some of it back before I started my weight program on July 19, but it is building fast now.
I experienced another major shift this week as the result of this program. I am more aware of my body and what is going on around me. It became clear that I need to be committed, on a daily basis, to my relationship with my fiancee. I have experienced the phenomenon of the cliche "famliarity breeds contempt" and do not want that ever to enter into this relationship. To keep it from happening, I need to focus on what I am doing to add quality to my partner's life, and what I am bringing to our relationship. By honoring that relationship through continued commitment to our common good, I will automatically get whatever I need, without that having to be my focus.
Reclaiming my body has opened the door for new possibilities in my life in other areas. I am excited about finishing this opening third of the 12 week challenge. And I am also excited about strawberry waffles on Sunday!
